Medisoft

I have tried to contact Medisoft in the past to get information about connecting to registries and I was asked to talk to one of their resellers. Medisoft seems to be concentrating on their core product and allowing resellers to do special interfaces.

The resolution we came to a few years ago was to use their report menu to export the data and then import it as a flat file. This process has the following benefits:

1. Does not require custom programming.
2. Does not require installation of software.
3. Will work across software upgrades.
4. Not too hard for a regular user to do on a regular basis.

There are a few downsides:

1. Not automated. Requires clinic user to run report.
2. Only a limited number of data columns can be exported because of some kind of line length restriction. (It is enough to report patient records and immunizations.)
3. Requires installation of a custom report.
4. Data is exported in a non-HL7 format.
5. Requires clinic user to upload data to the registry.

The ideal solution would be a module that supports exporting vaccination updates. I have sent an email to Medisoft but have not gotten a response. I will give more details as I get them.
